Flying Pig Marathon Training Week 10 Recap

It was a long, but good week of training. Slowly making my way towards some 60 miles weeks. This was the most miles I have run in a week so far. It was an odd week with having to move my long run to Sunday, but it all turned out well! Only 2 more months ’til @runflyingpig race day!

Daily Recaps:

â—¾ Monday: Was coming off a very hilly long run on Saturday so didn’t run quite as many hills as I do normally on Mondays. Averaged 7:20 pace for a nice average lunch run.

â—¾ Tuesday: Another Tuesday Intervals, with this week featuring a 6x800m workout. Put in some fast times today, averaging around 2:40 per rep. Was tough at times, but felt strong throughout.

â—¾ Wednesday: Enjoyed running up through Eden Park with the 84.51 running group. Some good conversation with friends made the run go by quickly. Stayed relaxed and enjoyed this one.

â—¾ Thursday: Thursday was a long day at work and just didn’t have enough time for the normal 8-9 mile tempo. So got it 6 at a moderate pace and felt fine.

â—¾ Friday: Normally Fridays are easy runs, but with not running hard the day before, I put in a little bit harder effort today. Ended up around 6:55 pace for 7 miles. VERY WINDY out there with a nice tailwind over the final few miles.

â—¾ Saturday: Was short on time due to travelling to Indiana for a family bridal shower, so skipped the normal Mojo Running Club. Got in 5 easy miles before a long day in the car.

â—¾ Sunday: Finished out the weekend with my best long run of the training cycle so far. Spent a lot of time at or under marathon pace with a total distance of 15 miles. 12 of those miles were under goal marathon pace (6:50). Overall I finished the 15 miles at 6:45 average per mile. Was definitely tired at the end, but came out feeling confident that in 2 months from now I will be able to build on that for a solid race.
