Flying Pig Marathon Training Week 8 Recap
Another solid week of training as I am nearing the halfway point of the 18 week training cycle. 53.5 miles was my most in a week since training for #Boston last spring.
Daily Recaps:
â—¾ Monday: 9 miles of rolling hills at a moderate pace of 7:06 min/mi. Stayed relaxed and didn’t push too hard. Weather was great and felt strong throughout. Ended a little faster than normal but was a good run
â—¾ Tuesday: Typically Tuesday is all about intervals, but decided to audible this week so ran a hilly route around Northern Kentucky at an average of 7:12.
â—¾ Wednesday: Easy miles to recover from 2 days of harder runs. Broke out the jogging stroller for the first time and took my son with me for 6 easy miles. We both enjoyed it!
â—¾ Thursday: Today was a tough run. Made it 8 miles at an average pace of 6:41, which is slightly faster than goal marathon pace. It was unseasonably warm (70 deg), 20mph+ winds, and my route was hilly. Was a good test of mental strength to finish the run at goal pace.
â—¾ Friday: Jogged a few miles around the neighborhood to get to mile total mileage for the week.
â—¾ Saturday: Put in 16 miles for the long run with Mojo. Added in 3 faster miles between miles 10-13 of the run for some race pace training. Overall, it was a pretty relaxed run with a low HR and 7:47 average pace.
â—¾ Sunday: Rest
