Week 2 of Flying Pig Marathon Training
This week had its ups and downs. Every season brings its own challenges and this week was a busy schedule and some mid week sickness. Came up about 9 miles short of plan for the week, but overall happy with where I am at after 2 weeks. Looking forward to a full week of training this week!
Daily Recaps:
◾ Monday: As I do most Mondays, I toured some local hills at a decent pace. The Flying Pig features one of the hilliest courses of any marathon course so getting the legs used to uphill AND downhill running is a priority
◾ Tuesday: Prioritized my health and took a rest day to recover from sickness.
◾ Wednesday: Still was not feeling well, so opted for more rest.
◾ Thursday: Finally got back out there and was greeted with the temp in the 40s, 15mph+ wind and rain. Still I was ecstatic to be feeling better and getting to run. Was supposed to be a tempo run, but modified it to slow down some to ease back into the training. Ended up a little over 7:00 pace, but felt good to be back!
◾ Friday: Today’s run was just a slow jog around the area. Only one goal: keep it relaxed. Kept the heart rate low and got a good stretch to keep the legs fresh
◾ Saturday: Long Run with Mojo RC. Original plan called for 12-13, but a few guys were stretching to 15, so decided to join them to add in a couple missed miles from earlier in the week. Overall a good run to close the week. Added in a few miles under 7:00 pace and felt strong.
◾ Sunday: Rest Day & WHO DEY! 🐅
