Flying Pig Marathon Training Week 16 Recap
First week of the taper done, only 2 more weeks to go! This week didn’t have too much of a drop off from past weeks, with the exception being dropping the long run down to 16. Getting excited for race day!
Daily Recaps:
◾ Monday: Pretty average Monday run. Ended up at 7:23 pace for 7 miles with a few hills thrown in.
◾ Tuesday: Broke out some intervals after getting away from them the past couple weeks. Did a 8x800m workout with a 400m jog between reps. Stayed consistent and averaged around 2:50 per rep.
◾ Wednesday: Hit 6 recovery miles at a relaxed pace to regroup for another fast run Thursday.
◾ Thursday: With the Pig being a hilly race, I picked a hilly route to run close to race pace for 8 miles. Got up before work to beat the heat. Wasn’t my best run, but checked off another day closer to race day.
◾ Friday: Easy 5 miles in between thunderstorms to shake out the legs
◾ Saturday: Joined the Mojo group back in Mason this week for a steady long run. Had a great sized group that made the run fly by this week. Picked it up a little at the end of the run to finish strong. Legs are feeling great at this point.
◾ Sunday: Rest Day
