Flying Pig Marathon Training Week 14 Recap

Only 4 weeks to go until @runflyingpig day! This week was fun, as I ran the @crrgevents Carmel Half Marathon. Overall, mileage dipped a little bit with a mini taper for the Saturday race. One more week of hard training before a gradual 3 week taper begins.

Daily Recaps:

â—¾ Monday: Broke out my new race shoes, so naturally ran faster than expected. Ended 8 miles at 7:06 pace, but felt pretty relaxed the whole time.

â—¾ Tuesday: Moved my schedule around a bit this week, so had 8 easy miles around Northern Kentucky.

â—¾ Wednesday: Found a friend about a mile in and changed workouts on the fly to spend some time running with him. Ended up doing some race pace miles through some hilly sections close to home.

â—¾ Thursday: Another easy day to just get some miles in and let the legs recover some in preparation for Saturday’s race.

â—¾ Friday: 3 mile shakeout before driving over to Carmel, Indiana. Relaxed pace with a few short sections of opening up the pace to stretch the legs.

â—¾ Saturday: Carmel Half Marathon! Came away with a new PR of 1:17:40. Ran a perfectly executed race and enjoyed the whole experience. Felt strong throughout and even came away with a negative split (39:08/38:32). Came away with a great confidence boost heading towards the Pig in 4 weeks.

â—¾ Sunday: Rest Day
